Indigo Dyed Leather

Created in the late fall of 2024. This is vegetable tanned leather dip dyed in a natural indigo vat. Thin, vinyl detailing tape was used as a resist to create fine geometric lines that contrast the tides and eddies created by the swirling indigo dye. It is a reflection on human efforts to control the natural world, nature’s inclination to resist, and the beauty the comes from the interaction between the two forces.
